A Debt Ceiling for US and Denmark

Who needs a Debt Ceiling? Pretty much just Denmark and the United States. That’s because we’re the only major economies that have it. Since no other countries add an additional bulwark between money already spent and actually paying it, why does the United States need one?

These negotiations seem to serve as just something to argue about and not actually relevant. I’ve heard some say “we’ll never raise the debt again without seriously confronting our long term debt issues in this manner” but ultimately these artificial talks serve as a divisive issue and not a real political issue. Like he says, we’ve already approved this money once, why have a second argument about it? Shouldn’t fiscal responsibility come into play one the first vote and not the second, must father down the line vote to raise the debt ceiling?
