Mark Halperin, A Magazine, A Morning Show

And a Morning Joe – but that’s the morning news/talk show on discussion here, so that’d be a redundant headline.
I published a quote from this on Facebook yesterday and the story from HuffPo, so I apologize (kinda) for redoing it here. But it needs to be done.
In the video, the round table of pundits goad on Mark Halperin (chief politics editor of Time – for fuck’s sake) to much cheeky, shitfaced smiling. Scarborough and the Soccer Mom Liberal Brzezinski reassure him the delay for a bleep is in place (last year Scarborough dropped an effortless f-bomb without the preamble Halperin gave). And so then Halperin fulfills his role as a seasoned analyst by calling the president a “dick” for being hard on the Republicans no-tax-hike view of the debt crisis.
And here’s what I put on Facebook, that’s just…. just goddamn perfect.
Being a professional observer of the “horse race” is bad enough, but Halperin doesn’t even understand the horse-race element of politics. He fails at being a hack. He’s too dumb to correctly parrot conventional wisdom. He is pretty sure Sarah Palin and Donald Trump are 2012 front-runners. He thought “suspending his campaign” to fix the economy and not knowing how many houses he has were both huge messaging victories for John McCain. He wrote a book about how to win in 2008 that predicted everything Hillary did, but in his world it all worked. He thought Bush’s political comeback would come any day now throughout the entirety of the years 2006-2008. He can’t interpret polls or see through the spin of GOP consultants who are much smarter than he. If I were revising the Hack list I’d put him above No. 1.
Note: Apparently Halperin parrots Matt Drudge. So… Hah. That makes sense.
As Salon (above) concludes, maybe MSNBC won’t fire Halperin for being shitty at his job. But at least they have an excuse to fire him for being… well… do we have the delay? There’s a delay? OK, phew. Here we go…. they should fire him for being a… prick.
