Ethanol Subsidies Threatened

Let me say first, the ethanol subsidies aren’t going anywhere immediately, despite a 73-26 vote to eliminate a tax credit and remove a tariff on imported ethanol. The president still supports the ethanol subsidies because of his policy of shamefully pandering to the corn belt and agribusiness.
On the plus side, the ethanol tax credits will automatically expire at the end of the year if they are not renewed. The strong Senate vote suggests they will be allowed to lapse.
