Subtly Pissing off Food Lobbies

First, you’ll notice meat and cheese are not listed, but dairy and protein are. In both cases, the portions are much smaller than the obscene portions of meat most Americans associate with a meal. Of course, protein can come from grains, vegetables (seeds, soynuts, etc.) and dairy. So that protein portion could be even more diminutive.

Clearly, there are some factors missing: fats, oils, sugars and other “treats” that previously topped the pyramid are now completely absent.

Unfortunately I couldn’t find the links quoting quiet outrage and disdain from the dairy and meat lobby. However, this does give us time to pause and reflect on how much we subsidize what even the USDA and federal government now recognize as the least necessary parts of our diet.
