A Back Door to High Speed Rail

U.S. Sen. Bill Nelson, D-Fl., is planning a way to “work around” Gov. Rick Scott’s rejection of high-speed rail funding.

Scott rejected $2.3 billion in federal money and plans for a high-speed train line between Orlando and Tampa on Wednesday.

The trick is to get investors to front a little more money and then for Tampa, Lakeland and Orlando to form a separate entity that would qualify to receive the stimulus money already promised for the plan.
